The Modern Strangers:
A couple of weeks ago Lepus went for a dander over to Nambucca, North London, to check out The Modern Stranger’s single launch show. The night was well supported by three acts gracing the stage before the boys took up their place.
The brothers from Tunbridge Wells are certainly a force to be reckoned with, making for a compelling sight as they tower above the mic stands. They begun their set by playing some of their lesser known songs before launching into their successful early single Vanilla. The crowd lapped up the band’s energy, throwing shapes with such vigour that even the most dubious moves looked exceptional. The music itself lies somewhere to the left of Indie Pop with a groove that is just too good to resist. As the night progressed the brothers launched into their more recent successes including Margarita and the launch single Coco Hello.
Fresh off the back from the BBC introducing stage at The Big Weekend, The Modern Strangers are beginning to make some serious noise that sets them apart from the cacophony of emerging artists. Keep your ears to the ground as this pair is certainly set for exciting times to come.
